The Celtic Warriors Wheelchair Basketball club used to be called the Chester Wheelchair Jets - and had a name change in the summer of 2007 to reflect their move to Darland Sports Centre in North Wales and also to reflect the number of 'Celtic' players in the club.
The team made the National League Championship Finals in May 2010 and following a win and a loss they were promoted to the First Division North of the GBWBA National League. The Senior team now play in the Second Division North.
The club has members as young as 13 years old - and we welcome people of all ages and abilities.
We have players from all around the North Wales and Cheshire Area and are keen to get more people playing the sport - so if you fancy a go just get in touch with us.
We are lucky enough to have two Paralympians at the Club - Anna Jackson played Wheelchair Basketball for the GB Womens team from 1998-2008 - competing at the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, World Championships and European Championships, and Mike Hayes who is a former Paralympic Pentathlete and Discus Thrower competing at the Barcelona 1994 Paralympic Games - previously holding World Records in both events.
We have sports chairs you can borrow when you initially join however we will provide you with information on where you can get your own chairs from.
If you want to try the sport just contact us and we can sort out a date for you to come to training.
