HUGE THANKS TO THE MORGAN FOUNDATION FROM ALL AT CHESTER WHEELCHAIR JETS

Jets V Bradford Away -

Chester Jets 44 - Bradford Bears 53

Chester Wheelchair Jets lost on Sunday 29th March away to Bradford Bears. In the home leg Jets had run out winners by 60 points. However on the return leg Bradford where able to field their traditional strong team and the game was a lot more competitive.

With the playoffs now out of the picture this was a far better game for the Jets to learn and develop from than an easy blow-out. Jets played consistent solid basketball for much of the game. Their defence was tight, forcing Bears to shoot from outside the key, although they were susceptible to the fast breaking Bradford guards at times due to a lack of rotation on offence.

Offensively Chester looked to push the ball a lot more and utilise their speedy wing players more, a good sign. When the break wasn’t on Jets worked the ball around and created decent shot opportunities. Their offence was balanced as the spread of points between the players demonstrates.

Chester led from the fourth minute of the first half until five minutes to go in the match. However they never extended their advantage beyond seven points and it is hard to hold a narrow lead for that length of time and not expect the opposition to have a run.

Jets lost the last four minutes 12-4 down to some naïve turnovers and really this coupled with continued poor shooting from the free throw line decided the game.

Chester have become a lot more consistent in their performances this year but they will need to develop more of a killer instinct in the off season to see off opposition when the opportunity is there.
